When compared, Chevrolet Silverado was about 200 pounds lighter from RAM 1500 model when both are offered with V6 units. After Ford offered further improvements in this segment it was more than obvious that RAM had to do something to stay competitive.
One of the things where we do not expect to see many changes is the engine lineup. For the 2017 RAM 1500 we will be getting familiar units and base version will come with 3.6 liter V6 that should be tweaked to offer slightly more power than current version which pumps out 305 hp. Second option will be the 5.7 liter V8 that might offer more than 400 hp instead of 395 hp that currently available version offers. Most interesting in engine lineup is the 3.0 liter V6 diesel with 240 hp and impressive 420 lb-ft of torque that could push slightly more power for new version but nothing major is expected.
